2022 Was A Poor Year For New Sites, Will 2023 Be Any Different?
I don’t know what’s going on in the market at the moment, but there is a real lack of variety and quality coming through in regards to new bingo sites.
I know this site exists to showcase what’s around, but I struggle to write anything positive about the new sites that have popped up lately. There is just nothing really unique or interesting about them to make them stand out.
The only thing going for these new sites is they’ve got nice sign-up offers, so if you’re looking to make the most of your deposit hey give them a go. However, don’t expect anything particularly new or ground-breaking.
If you do fancy something new and interesting, I recommend taking a look at what Buzz Bingo are doing with their new Live Bingo product. Every evening from 7pm to 10pm their live presenters appear in the Buzz Club Room to chat with players and give away lots of extra prizes. It’s something that has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.

Industry Changes
Customers might ask why there are fewer bingo sites being launched and relaunched compared to in a bygone era. The short answer to that is regulation. The whole of the British gambling industry is licensed and regulated now by the UKGC (United Kingdom Gambling Commission). They enacted a number of measures (mentioned below) that decreased the viability of launching a new site. For example:
- POC Tax: A remote gambling tax now takes place on all wagers, including bonus money. This is set at 21% (previously 15%) and reduces the viability of new companies coming in to compete in the industry, it’s now the larger companies with bigger advertising and marketing budgets that have taken over.
- KYC Rules: KYC (know your customer) rules have been introduced that increase the responsibility on gambling operators to check whether a customer can afford to gamble, where the money came from (anti-money laundering) and identity verification. These checks take time and cost money, which makes it harder for smaller/boutique operators to compete.
Newest Bingo Sites From 2021/2022
The biggest new site launch of 2021 was no doubt, the all-new Heart Bingo website!
They had a real big challenge to essentially leave Gamesys and then relaunch as a new site from scratch, but I’ve been impressed with how they’ve pulled it off, even getting the big man Olly Murs in to help with the marketing.
They’re definitely the main brand looking to make the most of the Pragmatic Play bingo technology. Worth checking them out if you haven’t already.
The other new site from 2021 worth a look at is Double Bubble Bingo. This is what was the old Heart Bingo, but then Gamesys rebranded it and added a new ‘Bubble Up Bingo‘ game to make it their own.
Although it’s networked heavily with Jackpotjoy, it has more about it than most of the other new sites that came out last year.
Newly Redesigned Sites
Sometimes a site will give itself a revamp with a new web design or some other kind of cosmetic change. So technically they’re not new sites, but they’re relaunched or attempting to refresh themselves in some way. If they’ve changed software, then that site is basically all new as the games will all be completely different.
The most notable redesign in recent memory has to be when Gala Bingo moved from Playtech to Entain. This was a huge change and not one that was met by happy players when it took place.

What is the best new online bingo site?
This is a very subjective question. For me, the best new sites to launch in recent years have been Buzz Bingo (2018) and PlayOJO Bingo (2020). Both have launched with no wagering and invested in unique games exclusive to them, which puts them above all the other new brands I’ve seen recently. Other leading contenders include Heart Bingo and Double Bubble Bingo.
